The goal of this event was to create a unique celebration that, while providing an appropriate commemoration of Kiewit's 125 years in business, would also have the employees and their guests talking and reminiscing for years to come. Held on Saturday, January 17, 2009, in the Peter Kiewit Ballroom at Qwest Center Omaha, the evening began with a cocktail hour and passed hors d'oeuvres. A company-produced video tribute to the 125 years of Kiewit history was followed by a sit-down dinner for 1,000 guests. In addition, VGA developed a concept for a series of video vignettes that recognized and celebrated the Kiewit culture while allowing the employees to enjoy a laugh shared by associates from every level of the company.
The highlight of the evening was the customized, high-energy entertainment of Los Angeles-based Rhythm Slam. VGA researched dozens of options to find the perfect combination of fun, excitement and surprise, while remaining true to the spirit of the Kiewit Companies. Rhythm Slam presented an intense 45-minute program that integrated extreme musicians and talented dancers with customized props and costumes to create an uplifting, one-of-a-kind show.
Throughout the process, VGA provided a full range of services from invitation design and menu planning to facility management, performer logistics, prop procurement, lights, sound and video. In addition, VGA brought in expert consultants to assist with the creation of customized decor and signage designed to compliment the theme of the celebration. VGA also handled the RSVP's and seating arrangements, as well as the design and production of a special program. VGA also developed and implemented an internal incentive promotion to encourage all employees to RSVP as early as possible.
